Scrum

If you are struggling to meet development schedules and budgets, if your development team is not working as effectively as you know they can, if you find the quality of your product is suffering, then you are not alone. Many software development companies suffer from the same problems. The good news is that Scrum is a tried and tested framework that has been proven to help. I can testify to this, having helped roll out Scrum within numerous companies to great results.

I have found that Scrum is a great framework for completing larger software development projects. Here I use the term larger project on purpose, meaning enough work to keep a team of at least 5-7 developers busy for 2 or more months. For smaller projects and ongoing operational issues, Kanban is an Agile framework that typically works better than Scrum. I also use the word framework because Scrum is "just" a collection of best practices that you can use to kick start Agile within your company. Scrum is a starting point, not the final solution. One of the goals of Agile (and Scrum) is to create a culture of continuous improvement. This, by definition, will mean that Scrum will adopt itself to your company, your customers, and your people.

If you want to learn more about Scrum, and are thinking about introducing it within your company, do not hesitate to contact me. I am a certified Scrum Master and will gladly come over free of charge to explain how Scrum can help your company work more effectively.
